Navlungo Co-founder Alp Çiçekdağ commented on the challenges and potential of expanding from Turkey into global markets via e-commerce.
Çiçekdağ stated the following:
The fact that our currency is somewhat suppressed generally has a slightly negative impact on Türkiye’s exports. This inevitably reflects on e-commerce as well; our products can end up being somewhat more costly in overseas markets, which makes e-commerce a bit more challenging. However, there are advantages too. We have high-quality brands. Beyond just using marketplaces, we have brands that sell through their own dedicated e-commerce sites and achieve impressive figures by offering the right products at the right prices and quality. If we use this period to learn the markets and expand into new territories, I believe the future looks very bright for e-commerce—and cross-border e-commerce specifically—as new opportunities gradually open up. Ultimately, Turkey is an export-oriented country, and e-exports are a crucial part of that. That is why we are optimistic about the future; our business is currently going very well in that regard.
