Nejla Seyhan Susam, Head of Cyber Defense Technologies at Garanti BBVA, spoke about which cybersecurity tasks should be outsourced and which should be handled in-house. Susam said the following:
Our approach is to “outsource” tasks that we can actually “recover” from quickly—even when they’re problems that could technically be handled with highly repetitive automation but that we haven’t yet managed to automate—as well as tasks that security experts don’t particularly enjoy doing. However, for tasks and services that require a deeper understanding of our internal infrastructure, application architecture, and security architecture—and where decisions must be made based on this “know-how” and action must be taken—we naturally rely more on our own resources.
