Is It Mandatory to Switch to AI-Powered Autonomous Security Systems?

Ali Çakıroğlu, IT Director at BELBİM, discussed whether transitioning to autonomous security systems powered by artificial intelligence is essential. Çakıroğlu stated the following:

Security is an area that often lags behind; however, it becomes critical when an attack occurs—potentially leading to distressing consequences if losses are sustained. Naturally, we believe that modern technologies—such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing—now enable us to rapidly prevent such vulnerabilities. Considering that attackers also employ these technologies, the resulting attacks—characterized by their diversity, speed, multi-vector nature, and ability to create unforeseen scenarios—pose serious risks. Consequently, it is increasingly evident that basing our security infrastructure on artificial intelligence will lead us toward autonomous solutions. Once we identify what is valuable, what must be protected, and the appropriate level of protection based on risk, artificial intelligence will provide us with the necessary measures to safeguard those assets. In my view, there is a crucial aspect regarding artificial intelligence: ultimately, no matter what measures you take, security risks arise, and adverse events occur. I believe artificial intelligence is also beneficial when it comes to making decisions following such incidents. When a problem arises, making rapid and accurate decisions is vital. Without a tool capable of properly analyzing data to facilitate quick decision-making, one risks succumbing to panic, making errors, and creating even greater vulnerabilities. I believe that artificial intelligence will be beneficial to us in high-risk situations, particularly by enabling us to make quick decisions and take preventive measures when we encounter problems.
