How to Manage Connectivity, Performance, and Cost in Cloud Ecosystems?

Tarkan Ateşoğlu, Group Manager of Information Technologies at Lila Kağıt, spoke about how connectivity, performance, and cost should be managed in cloud ecosystems. Ateşoğlu stated the following:

We’re looking at this from two perspectives. First, the technology we use is at a point where the cloud platforms we utilize are no longer just a structure or infrastructure. They’re truly an ecosystem running hundreds of services, and you need to utilize all the evolving aspects within that ecosystem. If there are no obstacles, the platforms you use as resources are now SaaS platforms, cloud platforms, and the services offered within them. You have to manage this connectivity, performance, and cost. That’s the first part. Secondly, regarding whether we should develop these internally or outsource them, my approach is this: whether we develop them internally or outsource, we need to consider how we can ensure the sustainability of this process. In other words, whether I do this internally or externally, can I make it sustainable and manageable? Will this work continue after me? That’s what we need to consider. Therefore, as long as you have skilled, qualified resources, it doesn’t matter whether it’s internal or external. Just make the right agreement, have the right competencies, and set them correctly. If you do that, you will be successful. Until now, we have never outsourced software development to our own teams. We’ve always used external resources. But look, today different technologies have emerged. This speed has become a little easier. Tomorrow it will become even easier. Therefore, it is necessary to set the right vision here, in terms of team planning. I don’t look at security in terms of resources, whether internal or external. What’s important here is how you ensure the sustainability of this work? What kind of structure do you build? And how well does this existing structure meet your needs? Of course, there is a security aspect to everything we do, and you must take the necessary precautions without neglecting this security aspect.
