Organizations Enhance Business Continuity with Robotic Process Automation
In an exclusive interview with Wise TV, Serkan Özden, Founder and CEO of Opinnate, provided an in-depth look at the automation of robotic workforces and cybersecurity processes. He offered a clear and comprehensive explanation of why organizations are turning to automation in these areas as of 2024, addressing the workforce crisis and the security vulnerabilities created by manual processes.
In the field of cybersecurity, a robotic workforce—or the automation of business processes—has become inevitable. We anticipate that, as of 2024, organizations will increasingly seek out and invest in this area. Why do we say this? Currently, the global workforce gap in cybersecurity has reached approximately 4 million. This situation brings with it a complex, multi-dimensional set of challenges. Foremost among these is high staff turnover; in many organizations, the average tenure of an employee has fallen below one year. Naturally, this has become a difficult issue for organizations to manage, making it increasingly challenging for them to retain a skilled workforce. This, in turn, elevates the risk of human error and can jeopardize business continuity. Furthermore, there are many routine tasks within cybersecurity that are still handled manually by some organizations—a significant source of inefficiency. When existing resources are tied up in routine, repetitive work, staff are unable to focus on more advanced, high-level initiatives. I began my career at a bank in 2005, where one of our responsibilities was managing firewall rules—receiving requests and then manually implementing them by connecting to the firewall systems. Nearly 20 years have passed, yet I see that these processes remain largely unchanged. Given how much our lives have transformed over the last two decades, the fact that these processes are still being handled manually… “…carrying out such tasks manually is, in fact, far from ideal. Especially given the significant labor shortage, the rising security risks, and the emergence of numerous new security technologies, it is crucial to enable employees to focus on more advanced, high-level areas and to elevate their professional capabilities. Our company operates in this very space; we empower organizations to automate their routine, repetitive tasks. Through this automation, companies can redirect their workforce toward more complex security challenges, thereby strengthening their overall security posture. In short, I would argue that the automation of business processes has become indispensable—it allows organizations to standardize workflows, minimize errors, ensure business continuity, boost employee productivity, optimize resources, and, crucially, tighten and improve their security processes.”
The Rise of Automation in Cybersecurity
In today’s digital world, cybersecurity has become one of the most critical fields. As technology advances rapidly, cyber threats are growing and becoming increasingly complex at an equal pace. This situation compels organizations to seek more innovative solutions to close security gaps and protect their data. This is where a robotic workforce and the automation of business processes come into play. As of 2024, it is anticipated that there will be greater investment in this area, with automation taking center stage in cybersecurity strategies.
The Workforce Gap and the Challenge of Turnover
There is a global workforce shortage of 4 million professionals in the cybersecurity sector. This gap creates significant difficulties for organizations in finding and retaining qualified personnel. The average tenure of an employee within an organization has fallen to less than a year—a level of turnover that has become difficult for organizations to manage.
Human Error and Business Continuity
The workforce gap and high turnover increase the risk of human error and jeopardize business continuity. Routine tasks performed manually reduce efficiency and hinder the effective use of resources. Consequently, this can lead to errors and security vulnerabilities within cybersecurity processes.
The Advantages of Automation
Automating business processes ensures that routine tasks are carried out faster and without errors. This allows employees to focus on more complex, strategic responsibilities, while enabling organizations to enhance their overall security posture. Automation enhances business continuity and employee productivity by standardizing business processes.
Improving Security Processes
Automation also plays a crucial role in strengthening and improving security processes. Integrating new security technologies and optimizing existing systems enables organizations to become more resilient against cyber threats. This, in turn, allows organizations to manage their security strategies more effectively.
Investing in the Future: The Inevitability of Automation
In the realm of cybersecurity, automation has become not just a trend, but a necessity. By automating their business processes, organizations can both reduce costs and minimize security vulnerabilities. Consequently, it is inevitable that automation will take center stage in cybersecurity strategies.
