In today’s environment, enterprise-scale data security presents itself as a complex challenge for all of us. The volume of uncontrolled data is expected to more than double between 2022 and 2026. Furthermore, there is a significant rise in data privacy and security breaches, as well as an ever-increasing number of compliance requirements associated with global regulations. Operational complexity—specifically the complexity involved in managing and securing data—emerges as a major hurdle. Additionally, the number of publicly reported data breaches continues to grow. Complexity implies poor visibility, security, and control.

In fact, statistics from various studies reveal some striking figures. Research shows that only 54% of organizations clearly know where their data is stored. Other notable statistics indicate that only 43% of cloud-stored data is encrypted, 52% of organizations use data without classifying it, and only 50% of organizations manage encryption keys for their data within the cloud or other environments.

Beyond the need to protect critical and commercial data, various regulations and compliance requirements are now being rigorously implemented and enforced in our country. Regulations such as the Personal Data Protection Law and standards like ISO 27001 clearly outline how data must be stored and the precautions that must be taken regarding it.

Storing data using cryptographic methods, keeping the keys for this encrypted data in secure or separate environments, and utilizing at least two-factor authentication systems for access to critical data or systems have emerged as fundamental measures explicitly required by regulations.
