Trellix IVX Sandbox Consolidation

Ekrem Kolday, Technical Manager at Komtera Teknoloji, explained Trellix Sandbox Consolidation.

Kolday stated the following:
Today, highly intricate and complex cyberattacks have become a challenge for everyone. On the screen, you can see the MITRE ATT&CK framework displayed in such a dense and complex manner that it is almost unreadable. Attackers employ a multitude of methods and sophisticated techniques and tactics to compromise our systems. The MITRE ATT&CK framework is currently one of the most widely preferred attack matrices.

Furthermore, security policies that institutions and organizations initially plan to implement often end up being relaxed due to factors such as changing needs, management requests, or operational convenience; this leads to shortcomings in the intended security implementation. Another common issue today involves systemic errors—specifically configuration or engineering mistakes. Errors that might appear trivial at first glance can, in many instances, lead to attackers compromising our systems or gaining access to critical data.

Trellix is an organization formed through the merger of two well-known brands. Following McAfee’s acquisition of FireEye, the organization was structured into two sister companies: Trellix, which focuses on XDR (Extended Detection and Response) business solutions, and Skyhigh Security, which operates in the Security Service Edge (SSE) sector—incorporating solutions such as Cloud Security, On-prem Web Gateway, and ZTNA. Trellix continues to operate primarily in the XDR space, offering comprehensive, end-to-end cybersecurity solutions.

Instead of seeing the McAfee Enterprise and FireEye brand names in the market, we will now see their solutions offered under the Trellix brand, with all these products integrated into a unified ecosystem. As the name implies, the XDR (Extended Detection and Response) concept manifests as an advanced detection and prevention system; it facilitates the exchange of data among various cybersecurity components within our environment—such as endpoint, network, email, cloud, and data security, as well as third-party solutions—and operates through the collaborative functioning of these elements within a structure known as a “data lake.”
