“Is security a blocker in digital agile transformations? This is a question everyone is asking frequently these days. Whether security is a blocker actually depends on the circumstances. If it’s not integrated into the process, security operations are unfortunately often described by IT stakeholders and management as a business hindrance, a slowdown. However, the roles CISOs should take here are actually to integrate their own processes into workflows, to be involved in pipelines. The more security is integrated into business processes, the more it is integrated into pipelines, the more security measures are taken from the very beginning, before a project even starts, rather than slowing down the process. For example, in source code analysis, instead of waiting for the code to be completed and secured, ensuring that checks are done within the process while the code is being written, rather than slowing down the process, actually ensures that security is included in the ecosystem. In these and similar agile transformations, agility alone is not enough. Agility is very fragile without security.” When we integrate security into agile transformations along with agility, we are essentially ensuring business continuity. Furthermore, risks become more manageable, understandable, and explainable. Therefore, in agile and digital transformations, security must be an integral part of the ecosystem. It should be supported from the very beginning by agile teams and senior management. It should become a part of the process, the company, and the product, not just a part of IT.
