Danone Turkey CIO Şirin Aktaş made the following remarks regarding the evolving role of information technology:
Our panel today—held under the theme of “embracing tomorrow”—brought together distinguished panelists from the finance, retail, and insurance sectors. It was a truly enjoyable session.
At the conclusion of the panel, we collectively highlighted our evolving role within the realm of technology. We agreed that we act as strategic business partners and that our designation should shift from “Information Technologies” to “Business Technologies.”
Furthermore, we discussed the growing importance of this changing role from the perspective of CEOs, senior management, and the companies themselves.
We addressed the immense value of our role and recommendations in enabling companies to create new revenue models, innovate, and grow. We also discussed how—given the ever-increasing importance of technology and data—our initiatives regarding cybersecurity and data management are critical for shaping our companies’ futures and ensuring business continuity.
The topic we emphasized most was culture; specifically, we discussed how our ways of working are changing and the role artificial intelligence plays in this transformation.
We noted that as artificial intelligence alters our decision-making processes and practices, both our employees and IT teams need to acquire new skill sets—and that facilitating this development stands as a top priority on the agendas of us technology leaders.
