Where is artificial intelligence being used in human resources?

Nursel Ölmez Ateş, Head of Human Resources and Corporate Communications Group at Borusan Holding, spoke about where artificial intelligence (AI) is used in human resources. Ateş stated:

“Human resources is a unit that works with a lot of data. Each piece of data is particularly sensitive and personal. Therefore, human resources and technology leaders need to approach data processing with great care. If you ask which processes in human resources we can use AI more in, the first thing that comes to mind is recruitment processes. Because we generally receive a very large number of applications during recruitment. It is crucial that these applications are evaluated objectively, without prejudice, within a certain standard process flow. Therefore, we experience from our own company applications that AI is beneficial in ensuring process standardization and objectivity in this sense. In all applications where AI is implemented, our recruiters and human resources officials always check that the process is proceeding correctly; for example, did a candidate who shouldn’t have been eliminated during the recruitment process get eliminated or left out? We always perform these checks.” We definitely include the human touch, and we strive to ensure transparency in this regard, adhering to ethical principles, Bayesian calculations, and biases. I believe that AI can contribute to making a given goal smarter and more measurable, particularly in performance management, by setting smart goals and transforming them into more measurable metrics. Another promising area is where AI can help employees and leaders create development plans and drafts. We have 360-degree employee assessments, performance results, feedback, and written and recorded assessment results. When you bring all of this together, I believe AI can generate a good development plan draft outlining where an employee needs to improve. Furthermore, I think this development plan can easily be linked to learning objectives from open sources like LinkedIn Learning. These are areas where employees often struggle. Writing a goal on a blank sheet of paper, creating a development plan on a blank sheet of paper, is not easy. But artificial intelligence can prepare preliminary drafts and make suggestions, which we already see very clearly in our daily lives and in our use of AI on social media. With intelligent suggestions and recommendations, we can easily find what we are looking for. Why shouldn’t we apply this to human resources development processes? These seem to be the first areas that come to mind where human resources and artificial intelligence can be integrated.

Human Resources and Artificial Intelligence: The Future of Work

Human resources are one of the most important components of an organization. They play a critical role in many areas, from employee recruitment to development processes. With the rapid advancement of technology today, the use of artificial intelligence in human resources processes is becoming increasingly widespread. Artificial intelligence has the potential to make human resources processes more efficient, objective, and faster. In this article, we will examine how artificial intelligence can be used in human resources processes and the opportunities this technology offers.

Artificial Intelligence in Recruitment Processes

Recruitment processes are one of the most intensive and complex processes in human resources. Selecting the most suitable candidates from a large number of applications can be a time-consuming and biased process. Artificial intelligence allows for objective evaluation of candidates by providing a standardized assessment flow in this process. AI algorithms can analyze candidates’ resumes, rank them according to specific criteria, and make recommendations to recruitment specialists.

Artificial Intelligence in Performance Management

Performance management is a critical process for employees to set goals and achieve them. Artificial intelligence can play a significant role in setting and measuring smart goals. By analyzing employee performance data, it can help create more effective and personalized goals.

Development Planning and AI

AI can provide significant support in the development planning processes of employees and leaders. By analyzing data such as 360-degree employee reviews, performance results, and feedback, it can contribute to the creation of personalized development plans. Furthermore, these plans can be integrated with open-source learning goals.

Reducing Bias

Reducing bias in human resources processes is critical to ensuring a fair and equitable work environment. AI can help minimize bias in candidate evaluation and performance management processes, leading to more objective decisions. However, maintaining a human touch and ethical principles in these processes is also crucial.

Increasing Productivity with AI

AI can increase productivity in human resources processes. By automating routine and time-consuming tasks, HR professionals can focus on more strategic and creative tasks. This can increase the overall productivity of the organization.

The Future of Human Resources and Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence has the potential to revolutionize human resources processes. However, for this technology to be used effectively, human resources professionals need to be knowledgeable about artificial intelligence and act in accordance with ethical principles. It is predicted that in the future, artificial intelligence will be used more widely in human resources processes, and organizations will greatly benefit from this technology.

The use of artificial intelligence in human resources processes offers organizations many advantages. From recruitment processes to performance management, from development planning to reducing bias, artificial intelligence can make human resources processes more effective and efficient in many areas. However, maintaining the human touch and ethical principles in these processes is also of great importance. It is clear that human resources processes will further develop with artificial intelligence in the future, and organizations will greatly benefit from this technology.
