Payment Systems Trends in 2026: What Awaits Us?

Rubikpara CTO Barış Kırgıç Çakıroğlu spoke about the 2026 trends in payment systems. Çakıroğlu said the following:

When we look at the world, payment systems are actually more about the time a customer spends on payment than when and where they make the payment. Now, customers in supermarkets, even abroad, are paying with their eyes and face. This minimizes the time spent on payment; but because they know it’s done securely, customers continue to use these payment methods. There are actually two pillars to payment: one is fast payment. This is very important for both the end user, the customer, and the business. When it’s implemented as it should be, customers use it much more frequently and it becomes a habit. Looking at global trends, we see a lot of cashierless supermarkets abroad. Trials of this have been conducted in Türkiye as well, and I think this sector will revive very quickly. When customers see that payments are deducted from your linked account when an item is added to the cart, and that this process is secure, I think its use will increase much more frequently.
