What Awaits Corporate Firms According to the IBM 2030 Report?

Hüseyin Pekşen, Software Leader at IBM Turkey, discussed what awaits corporate enterprises according to the IBM 2030 report. Pekşen stated the following:

IBM Research has published a report titled “Enterprises in 2030,” based on a study involving over 2,000 executives across 33 countries and 23 different sectors. According to this report, 57% of organizations indicate that they will extensively leverage the advantages of artificial intelligence, noting that competitive advantage will stem from the depth of this AI integration. By 2030, 79% of senior executives anticipate that AI will directly contribute to their revenues; however, only 24% know the specific sources of this revenue. A vast majority of senior executives believe that, by 2030, the resource and competency issues currently hindering corporate progress will be eliminated. Furthermore, the majority of these executives assess that innovation will take precedence over mere resource optimization. I can outline some expectations for 2030 as follows: Competitive pressure will necessitate major strategic decisions by companies. Today’s productivity gains will shape tomorrow’s industry transformations. Standard AI models used across the market will not provide a significant competitive advantage in the coming period. Instead, AI models designed using an organization’s own data—incorporating its unique characteristics—will secure a more advantageous competitive position. While AI can process data, conduct analyses, and assist with planning, it cannot make decisions involving the deeper cognitive layers of thought—such as reasoning, ethical evaluation, and strategic vision. This is where human capabilities once again come to the forefront. Key human capabilities—such as problem-solving, crisis management, adaptability, and innovation—are also important areas that will be supported by AI.
